Brendan shows a mixture of new school tech and old school physical inspection in this fairly straight forward diagnosis.
This 1.8L petrol Holden Cruze suffers from rough running on startup. Even though there is no check engine light or dash warning lights, the scan tool data gives great direction which leads us to finding a leaking fuel canister purge valve.
Because this vehicle uses a speed density fueling algorithm, rather than a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor - the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor registers low manifold vacuum (due to the leak), this makes the ECM think it is under a higher load situation, so it wrongly injects more fuel, until the oxygen sensors register this overfueling and back the fuel off using negative fuel trims.
The fix we arrive at from this diagnosis is to replace the canister purge valve.
Comments always appreciated, hopefully, you can try this simple test on your vehicle, let us know how you go.
