NITECORE EDC37 8000 Lumen Flashlight Review With Thermal Analysis. Hold The Sun In Your Hand.

This is the first in a series of reviews of the NITECORE EDC37 8000 lumen EDC Flashlight. I want to thank NITECORE for sending me a pre-release version of the flashlight and making the review possible. They also sent a pre-release User Manual and some of the information conveyed in the video was taken from that manual. As such, it is subject to pre-release information possibly not matching production.

While the Turbo Flood output of 8000 lumens is impressive, it also gets very hot. The summary of this video includes a thermal analysis of Turbo Flood (aka Lumen Shield) output and the first part of cool-down.

This first review is broken approximately into two parts. The first part is introductory and covers a number of operational details for new users to the EDC series. The second part of the review focuses on basic beam shots and comparison to the EDC29 at the high end for those considering upgrading from the EDC29 or an earlier version in the series. The video summary contains thermal imaging during and after a Turbo Flood shot.

I should note that I received the pre-release light well over a month before the formal release, so I had the opportunity to carry it loose in pocket, clipped in pocket, and loose in my ruck. I had no issues with the lockout switch being accidentally moved. YMMV.
