General Jennie Carignan, the chief of defence staff, holds a news conference in Ottawa to provide an update on the modernization of the Canadian Armed Forces’ (CAF) recruitment process. She is joined by Lt-Gen. Lise Bourgon (chief of military personnel and commander of military personnel command), Cmdre Pascal Belhumeur (commander of military personnel generation group) and Maj.-Gen. Scott Malcolm (CAF surgeon general). In accordance with Canada’s current defence policy, the upgrade process aims to increase the military to 71,500 regular force members and 30,000 reserve force members by March 31, 2032.
