Review of Cell Membranes, including the role of the phospholipid bilayer and the functions of the proteins embedded in the cell membrane. Reference is made to Ion Channels, Transporter (Carrier) Proteins, Enzymes, Linker Proteins, Receptor Site Proteins and Recognition Site Proteins (glycoproteins, Cell Identity Markers, Major Histocompatibility Complex [MHC] Proteins). Included in the description of Receptor Site Proteins are ligands (signal molecules), G-Proteins, mimetics (agonists) and blockers (antagonists).
