ASEAN mayors meet in Nanning to cement China-ASEAN relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping is making his first overseas trip this year in Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia from April 14 to 18, a tour that holds significant importance for the overall development of China's relations with these three countries and ASEAN as a whole, and is expected to inject new momentum for peace and development in the region and the world at large.

How does China's neighborhood diplomacy translate on the ground? How can Chinese and other ASEAN cities better take advantage of their shared heritage, history and cultural bonds?

In this edition of Global Mayors Dialogue, CGTN's Wang Guan hosted a panel discussion in Nanning, the capital city of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, with mayors and city governors from Nanning, Vientiane, Yangon, Surat Thani, Kulim, Mong Cai, Siem Reap, and Mataram, to explore new pathways for urban openness and cooperation and write a new chapter for building a "China-ASEAN amicable home." An occasion to cement neighborly bonds, exchange ideas and best practices, learn from each other, and deepen and bolster not only trade relations, but also friendly people-to-people interaction.
