NAGAHAMA Castle Town_Let's go see the history that one samurai pioneered.

Today, we’re visiting Nagahama, on the northeastern shore of Lake Biwa, in Shiga Prefecture.
Nagahama is known for its deep historical roots and cultural heritage, including Nagahama castle.
It is a unique city in Japan, with a collection of historical sites that span centuries, from the roughly 450-year-old streets, to century old buildings and traditions.
Even in Japan, it is truly a special place.

From the end of the 15th century to the end of the 16th century, the Sengoku Period was a time of civil war and unrest throughout Japan. It’s also known as the Warring States Period.

Toyotomi Hideoyoshi, a prominent military commander and a central figure in Japan’s unification, built his very first castle here.
One of his first steps on his way to unifying Japan.
