Ute Heggen, a retired teacher, is now a butterfly gardener in the Hudson Valley. Her memoir, "In the Curated Woods: True Tales from a Grass Widow," chronicles her journey of healing after her husband's secret crossdressing life, while raising their traumatized sons. Ute used the term grass widow in her book title, while trans widow is the more commonly used term for women whose husbands decided to "live full time as a woman."
