Sims 2
In The Sims 2, the Pottery Wheel was added in the game with The Sims 2: Free Time. Pottery is an activity and talent badge in The Sims 2. Sims with no talent badge can only create plates. The Ceramic Items in the Sims 2 are continuously molded, the shape will grow in size, before the final design appears on the wheel. As Sims progress in Pottery, they will earn a Bronze Badge. They will be able to make two more Ceramics, a decorative Tea Set, and a vase. Sims with Silver Talent Badge in Pottery, will also be able to craft Pots and Pitchers. Finally, when Sims master Pottery and earn Golden Talent Badge, they will be able to craft a giant Amfora.
Sims 4
In The Sims 4, Pottery was added in the game with The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies, as an activity and a skill. Sims can now buy Pottery Equipment and open their own Pottery Studio. Depending on their pottery skill, Sims can make up to 14 Ceramic Designs. When working on the pottery wheel Sims will use their hands, as well as tools and sponges in The Sims 4. But the ceramics won't be molded continuously like in The Sims 2. After the Ceramic is done, it will appear on the pottery wheel. Sims can choose from up to 10 different glazes to their ceramic item. They will first spray the item with glaze, and then finish up by placing it in the Pottery kiln. Sims can also break the ceramics into small pieces, and if they have level 7 of the pottery skill; they can repair it. Repairing, also known as the art of Kintsugi.
