Bolognese Grappling (Applying Marozzo's presa's to Sword and Spadone)

The very last section of Achille Marozzo’s manuscript presents techniques on dealing with an opponent armed with a dagger. This section is devoted to takedowns and joint manipulation. These techniques cover the majority of the throws and takedowns throughout the manuscript. The goal of this video is to give examples of the use of some of these techniques with Sword and Spadone, along with the original example of the dagger work.
Not all of his dagger techniques are applicable to other weapons. For instance, Marozzo gives numerous examples of attacking his opponents left arm, while the dagger is in the right hand. These techniques are less useful against a longer weapon.
Although we used the easiest set up for most of these techniques, Marozzo shows many different ways to enter into grappling.We did scatter a few different set ups throughout the video.
All of these plays can be done with the addition of a buckler or targa. There are a couple of example presented, but we chose to do the majority of the video with sword alone for clarity.
Finally there are some throws done with the Sword and Spadone that are not represented in the dagger section. These are not shown in the video.
