On the 9th October Matt Billing and I took part in the Great British Long Jump, this is competition that runs throughout the month of October each year for Hot Air Balloon Pilots to attempt to fly their balloons as far as they can in one flight.
Previous years have seen me fly from Suffolk to South Wales with Stephanie Bareford and achieve a distance of 208 miles (2015) watch the video here: • Great British Long Jump 2015

This year I was grateful to be able to use a slightly bigger balloon (120,000 cu ft) which I have borrowed from Virgin Balloon Flights. We were also very fortunate to have the fantastic help of Peter Ollivere to drive our retrieve of over 300 miles and use his vehicle for the 700 mile round trip! A splendid bit of camaraderie.
An epic day all in all in which we flew 233 miles on a flight which took us 7hrs 50mins and we went through 550 litres of propane.
