Amtrak California Zephyr train 5 departing from Chicago February 7, 2020.
Beautiful journey through the snow covered canyons and mountains during winter.
Californian Zephyr route from Chicago to San Francisco goes through the Rocky Mountains, along the Colorado River, the beatiful Colorado Canyons coverd by snow and through the Sierra Nevada. Three days (54 hours) through the states of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California.
A trip of 2,438 miles (3,923 km) with two nights and three time zones.
Each night, the clock is reset for one hour as we switch from Central Time in Chicago (CT) to Mountain Time (MT) in Colorado and again to Pacific Time (PT) in California.
Note at 12 m 40 s: Due to a problem with one of the engines in Winnemucca we got an additional Union Pacific Engine connected to the train in Sparks.
