What is a Urodynamics Test?

A urodynamics test helps us diagnose urinary conditions. By understanding how your child’s bladder fills and empties we can understand issues they may be having, such as difficulty peeing, infections, or leaking urine.
The test uses catheters and stickers with electrodes to monitor your child’s bladder. Your child’s urologist may also use a dye along with an X-ray so they can see internal imaging. The procedure does not cause pain, and our Child Life team can help your child with any discomfort through calming techniques and by helping them focus on other things as they undergo the test.
