Southampton Level Crossing 15/08/2019
According to the latest Level Crossing Data from Network Rail, this crossing is the busiest road level crossing in the country, and the fourth busiest overall in terms of the number of trains passing (the other three are footpath or user worked crossings)
It definitely lives up to this statistic as we see a channel record of eight trains in one crossing lowering, as follows:
377423 on 1N85 heading to Brighton
450038 on 2E40 heading to Southampton
444043 and 444027 on 1W20 heading to London Waterloo
158890 on 2S39 heading to Salisbury
450100 on 5Y01 heading to Southampton Up Goods Loop
158950 on 1O98 heading to Brighton
66572 on 417X heading to Southampton M.C.T
158883 on 2R50 heading to Romsey.
The crossing was closed for around 12 minutes total.
