Monday morning hellos are wigglicious! There’s no time wasted it’s straight into frisbees, swims and before too long Tilly the Beaglier and Bandit the Boxer are banging on the gate telling us it’s lure time! And off we go, because lure is one of our favourite games! Monday’s pack are lightning fast especially with a couple of Vizslas in the pack! It’s then a sprint back to the yard where we play and wait for the big ball! Whilst we wait Arthur plays his favourite game of dropping the ball off the dock for himself to retrieve. This time Cleo has worked it out and she’s learnt from Nala how to tread water beneath the dock so she’s now waiting for the ball to drop from Arthur and thinks it’s simply the best thing she’s ever discovered!
Today we talked about Tilly the Beaglier ...
Tilly the Beaglier is 3 years old and has been coming to the farm since she was 7 months old. Her best friends are Bandit and Bruce. Her favourite game, by far, is lure coursing. She is obsessed! Her pawrents describe her as lazy. Tilly?? Are we talking about the same Tilly the Beaglier?? It’s not that we don’t believe them, we do, but at the farm Tilly couldn’t be further from lazy! She tells us to hurry up and get Lure going every day! She always wants another run, it wouldn’t matter how many we did. And at home time she hides with Bandit! It’s not uncommon for dogs to show different traits at the farm to how they might act at home. We’ve been shocked ourselves sometimes when they sleep over and the crazy hectic working dog in the yard that’s got a job to do becomes the softest, most chilled dog on the couch. And you know what, we absolutely LOVE that!! What a great balance!
Here’s some words from Tilly’s pawrents:
Because Tilly’s half beagle, she often wanders off for new smells if she’s not on the lead. The farm is a chance for Tilly to let her hair down to run and play with other dogs...It’s her dream day that she looks forward to all week!
The day after Tilly has been at the farm, she won’t move from her bed....Farm Hangover! She has 5 beds all around the house, but decides to sleep in our bed. She’s VERY lazy and we have to entice her out of bed every morning with treats.
If she doesn’t want to leave the park, she just lies down. She laid down in the middle of a zebra crossing today.
She LOVES other dogs and always pulls us over to say hello to ANY dog.
She loves hot chicken and veggies for dinner - she doesn’t like dog food.
She will sleep through any noise....but will always wake up to the fridge door opening and will be right next to you in 5 seconds!
She’s a very sweet, placid girl and rolls over for belly rubs for anyone.
We then spent the afternoon chasing Luke on the Pee Wee and swimming in the pool! Nala swam straight to her usual position and poked her nose over the edge of the dock ready for any ball or frisbee as it flew into the water! Then after our baths, when it was time to head for the bus home, as suspected, Tilly the Beaglier sat back and watched as her friends started to leave. Much to her delight Aunty Sam was behind her filming and surely that meant she’d open the door inside. A quick hello to her pal Bandit and a sniff around the house and she was ready to skip back to her friends and board the bus! Good on ya Tilly!
