In October 2005, thirty-year-old Tara Grinstead, a beloved high school history teacher and former beauty queen in Ocilla, Georgia, vanished without a trace. Her car remained in the driveway, her phone still charging inside her locked home, but Tara was gone. What followed was the largest missing-person investigation in Georgia’s history. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation combed rivers, woods, and orchards, chasing thousands of leads, yet the case grew cold.

National media coverage and missing-person posters kept her face in the public eye, but suspicion and rumors eroded trust in the small town of 3,000. In June 2022, he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
