The Sony α7CR. Huge Price. Huge Mistake? Here's My Take. [Gear]

I have a new (2me) camera and it's the Sony α7CR. I traded a pile of gear and what I consider a significant bit of cash for it. Have I made a true mess of my finances and my photography or have I made a massive improvement in my future?

I had run with a Canon T1i with the two standard kit lenses for over seven years before I purchased a camera I had been introduced to while on vacation in Alaska, the Sony RX10 iv, a bridge camera. I hadn't had that camera for 8 months when I came across a screaming deal on a Canon R6 full frame with the 24-105mm kit lens. I also bought my first brand new piece of photography gear since my Kodak EasyShare C875, the Canon 16mm f/2.8 pancake lens. I have to say, though, that neither of those cameras grabbed me by the throat and screamed, 'Let's go take some pictures!'

In early 2025, and after much research, I offered the above mentioned RX10 and R6 with lenses (plus some cash) for trade against the α7CR in a relatively blind leap of faith. I still have the sixteen year old Canon T1i (which I still love), but did I trade a bird in the hand for two in the bush?
