hi everyone !! this is just a segue into my new and improved channel. i've been called "voightsgirl" for literally years and though i'm fond of it (it was a reference to erin lindsay, after all) i think it's time to let it go, for lots of reasons. the first is that i really don't feel comfortable being named after the character voight - don't get me wrong, he's an endlessly fascinating character - but especially in the wake of everything that's happened this year i don't think it's right to be paying homage to a character who is effectively the poster child of police violence. whether he is motivated by race or not, there is no doubt that he has (literally) gotten away with murder and has abused countless people through his power and i don't want any of my work to be associated with that.

the second reason for the change is that i'm hoping to change up the style of my editing to incorporate more thematic videos, and be less focused on just one chicago. of course i'll still be editing it but i want to make sure that all my edits are as high quality and as meaningful as i can, especially as i'm incredibly busy and rarely have any time to make them.
