Welcome to Nowruz 1400 Ottawa

The Iranian Arts and Culture Society of Ottawa (PACSO) would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. May the year 1400 be filled with joy, prosperity, and happiness for each one of you.
Such as the previous year, we are planning an online gathering to take place between 7 pm and 9 pm on Saturday, March 20th. The event will take place on the Zoom platform; we will gather to read poetry, celebrate, and greet each other for the new year. We invite you to join us for a memorable evening!

Nowruz is the Iranian New Year, which begins on the Spring equinox, marking the first day of Farvardin, the first month of the Iranian solar calendar. It is celebrated worldwide by various ethnolinguistic groups. Nowruz has Iranian and Zoroastrian origins; however, it has been celebrated by diverse communities for over 3,000 years in Western Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, the Balkans, and South Asia. It is a secular holiday for most celebrants that is enjoyed by people of several different faiths but remains a holy day for Zoroastrians, Baháʼís, and some Muslim communities.
