Panasonic Lumix S5iix & Panasonic Lumix S5 | Side by side comparison | First Test Video

The Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark I has been my main camera and work-horse for the past 3+ years, and it has been an absolute joy to work with! When the Panasonic S5iix came out I honestly didn't feel the need to 'upgrade' immediately as I felt that it wasn't a huge step up vs the original S5. To add to my then theories there were/aren't many side by side comparisons comparing the two cameras and their differences.

I chose to get the S5iix now as it seems like Panasonic may not be releasing the long-awaited and highly anticipated S1Hii this year. Anyways, here is my first test of the camera compared to the original S5. It's a very simple test to see how differently/similar the images match-up against each other. In order to keep these tests as fair as possible I used the same codecs, lenses and settings in both cameras.

That said the S5iix is indeed an upgrade to the original S5 in many ways, reliable autofocus, a plethora of codec options both internal and external, 6k open gate etc. I'm even more excited to put it through its paces and keep using the original S5 as a Bcam.
