While in the process of editing this video, the channel hit a significant milestone of 1,000 subscribers - and it only took me 9 years! Haha!

So, it's kind of fitting that — in this video — I am revisiting an idea that formed the basis of the channel's very first video. That idea was to make music, without being able to hear what was being created. This time around, however, there's a bit of a twist. I will be using a no-input mixing technique, and performing live, with no audible output.

This idea came to me rather spontaneously. It occurred to me that were we to plug the output of a device, back into its own input, without an additional output, that our performance would be entirely contained within this device (or collection of devices). A kind of surreptitious, sonic, self-oscillation that we would never hear. A private conversation between electronic components and circuitry.

Obviously, we do want to hear the results in the end, so I recorded the output. I then set about turning this clusterf*ck of noises into something more musical — spoiler alert, I did listen to this part! So, sit back, relax and join me on this sonic experiment, as we try to uncover 'The Secret Sound of the Machines'!
