Anthony Williams (aka Pooka Williams) of Hahnville High School broke Cecil Jones' single season rushing record, completing his senior season with 316 carries for 3,160 yards and 37 touchdowns (10 avg). He caught 8 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. He returned 6 kickoffs for 333 yards, an average of 55.5 yards, and a touchdown. Williams returned 3 punts for 64 yards, a 21.3 yard average, and one touchdown.
Pooka Williams was named Prep Player of the Year by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl/Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club and CrescentCitySports.com.
Overall, Williams accumulated 3,694 yards with 40 touchdowns in leading his team to a state runner-up finish in 2017.
For his career, Williams rushed 535 times for 5,604 yards and 68 touchdowns. He caught 78 passes for 1,504 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams returned 20 punts and kickoffs for 852 yards and 7 touchdowns. He finished his career with 670 touches for 8,114 yards and 86 touchdowns.
