Community Development and Social Services Minister DOREEN MWAMBA has dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting that she has resigned from her ministerial position.
Addressing a press briefing in Lusaka today, Ms. MWAMBA clarified that while she will not contest any constituency as a Member of Parliament in the forthcoming general election, the decision is based solely on health considerations.
She said her choice not to seek parliamentary office should not be interpreted as stepping down from her ministerial role.
Ms. MWAMBA said she remains fully committed to her responsibilities in Cabinet and continues to serve the country.
The Minister also said she remains loyal to the UPND and continues to be an active member of the party.
Ms. MWAMBA said she would only leave office in accordance with the provisions of the Republican Constitution, and not because of speculation or misinformation.
Meanwhile, Ms. MWAMBA disclosed that more than 1.5 million households across the country are expected to benefit from the Social Cash Transfer Programme this year.
She said the programme reflects the Government’s continued focus on social protection and poverty reduction.
