静かなる秋の天鏡湖　Lake reflecting the autumn sky

猪苗代湖の観光船が発着する国道49号長浜地区に国の重要文化財の「天鏡閣」という建物があります。1907年（明治40年）有栖川威仁親王殿下が東北をご旅行中、猪苗代湖畔を巡遊した際に、風光の美しさを賞し、猪苗代湖を望む高台に御別邸を建設することを決定、1908年（明治41年）8月に竣工しました。「天鏡閣」の名前は1908年9月に皇太子嘉仁親王殿下（大正天皇）がこの御別邸に行啓され、五日間滞在しました。その際、この御別邸を「天鏡閣」と命名されました。これは中国の詩人李白の詩句「明湖落天鏡」に由来しています。別邸から見える猪苗代湖の湖面を鏡にたとえたことからこの名前を付けたと伝えられています。

Located in the Nagahama area of ​​National Route 49, where sightseeing boats depart and arrive on Lake Inawashiro, is a building called "Tenkyokaku," a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. In 1907 (Meiji 40), Prince Arisugawa Takehito was traveling through Tohoku and toured the shores of Lake Inawashiro. He admired the beautiful scenery and decided to build a villa on high ground overlooking the lake, which was completed in August 1908 (Meiji 41). The name "Tenkyokaku" came from Crown Prince Yoshihito (Emperor Taisho) who visited the villa in September 1908 and stayed there for five days. At that time, the villa was named "Tenkyokaku." This name comes from a haiku by Chinese poet Li Bai, "Lake Ming's Falling Mirror." It is said that the name was chosen because the surface of Lake Inawashiro, as seen from the villa, resembled a mirror.
