Competitive Game Ends In Walk-off As Fayette Fury 11U Falls To WV Elite 11U

A walk-off left Fayette Fury 11U on the wrong end of an 11-9 defeat to WV Elite 11U on Sunday. The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the fifth when Julian B singled, scoring two runs.

Fayette Fury 11U were the first to get on the board in the first when Bobby N hit a solo home run to center field.

Ryder S homered to left field, which helped WV Elite 11U tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the third, Fayette Fury 11U broke up the tie when Brendan F grounded out, scoring one run. Then a home run to center field by Conner B followed to extend the lead to 4-1.

WV Elite 11U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by Owen G that drove in three.

Fayette Fury 11U jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when Griffin B singled, scoring one run, JR G doubled, scoring two runs, and Logan V grounded out, scoring one run.

WV Elite 11U jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Ian B drew a walk, scoring one run, Owen singled, scoring one run, and Julian singled, scoring two runs.

Bobby started on the bump for Fayette Fury 11U. The starter gave up three hits and six runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Vance W stepped on the bump first for WV Elite 11U. The righty surrendered six hits and four runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking none.

JR and Griffin each collected two hits for Fayette Fury 11U. Conner and JR each drove in two runs for Fayette Fury 11U.

Julian and Owen were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for WV Elite 11U while hitting back-to-back. Owen drove the middle of the lineup, leading WV Elite 11U with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.
