Four ancestral dances, of different social and historical origins, entwined by one color: Purple red. A deep red color, intimate and secret as a seashell; a uterine red color, representing shelter, union, warmth; but also red as rage, “spat blood, smile of beautiful lips”.
An irregular red line, fluid and sensual, leading my mind through the Valse, then becoming a dense pigment in the Sarabande before giving way to a nuanced glaze in the Menuet, finally condensing in the obsessive, full and rich gestuality of the Tarantella, red as elation and freedom.
Suite Porpora springs from my desire to pay tribute to women: primeval strength, worldly sensuality, pure spark of everything. (Davide P. Runcini)
