Darkest Dungeon 2: The Boys VS Focused Fault (Plus Tips on How to Beat the Boss)

Welcome and hello to another Darkest Dungeon's 2 video where I'll show you how to beat the Final Boss of the Obsession act.

From this point onward these last 3 boss fights are all multi phased fights and you need to be ready for them as they will put your knowledge and skills to the test.

This boss fight has 2 phases the first phase starts by spawning in 4 large Cluster of Eyes. Each time one of these clusters die they shrink down 1 size from large to medium and finally small before dying and leaving a corps.

Now to the untrained eye you would think (oh ok just a bunch of cannon fodder before the real fight starts). If you go into this boss fight thinking that, then guess what? You're WRONG and soon you'll be leaving in a body bag. As phase 1 of this fight is the most dangerous part of this boss fight.

The purpose of the Cluster of Eyes is to spread Seen tokens all over your party. These tokens are unique as they are orange, stack, can't be removed by normal means and are permanent. The only way to remove Seen tokens is either dodge the attack or use stealth which removes all Seen tokens from that hero.

You have to be quick when fighting the Cluster of Eyes as they have an attack called Glare which will allow them to return to a previously defeated state. So small becomes medium then to large if you take to long.

The best strategy for this phase is DOT damage as whenever a Cluster dies to DOT damage they skip their turn. It's a bit hard at the start as the large clusters have a DOT resistance of %50 across the board but as they get smaller it goes down by -%10.

Finally the 2nd phase the Focused Fault, if your team is covered in Seen tokens you're dead and about to get nuked off the planet as this boss hits like a truck.

This is one of the biggest bosses in the game at a size 4 meaning anything can hit it from any where take advantage of that. Focused Fault takes 3 actions per turn has 250 HP, 8 SPD, %40 DOT resistances, %100 Stun and Move resistances but ONLY %20 Debuff resistances.

The first action Fault will always use is Behold which will add a Seen token and apply horror, daze or vulnerable and copy all positive tokens. Normally targets Seen heroes if none will target a random hero.

The one thing you must avoid doing is stacking a bunch of positive tokens as Fault will use an attack called Suppress. This targets everyone with 3+ positive tokens and no Seen tokens. Then there's a chance they can be afflicted with blind, daze or weakened, they will get +2 stress and the flame gets -10.

Limerence is Fault's last move and only targets heroes with Seen tokens and can hit multiple heroes meaning he can nuke the entire team if phase 1 goes badly. For every Seen token a hero has this attack will do 100% more damage to them and if they have 3 tokens then this attack will out right has +100% Deathblow RES Piercing.


So how do we beat this monster of a boss? Simple we need to keep his attention on just one hero through the power of taunting and tanking his attacks.

The first thing we need to do is pick out a dedicated tank. This hero needs to be able to generate taunt tokens and needs to be able to heal themselves if they take to much damage.

The best heroes for this role are these 3 heroes

Leper
Flagellant
Crusader (Banneret)


All these heroes have a way to generate taunt tokens and can heal themselves if needed.

It's very important that you give these heroes trinkets that increase their max HP as they'll be taking a ton of abuse and you will lose if they die. The Second Chance memory can really help since as soon as a hero with this memory hits 0 HP they'll recover %10 of their max HP once per region.


You want to bring hero's who can give themselves Stealth tokens as it's the best way to remove Seen tokens without wasting items.

The best heroes for this are these 2 heroes

Runaway
Grave Robber

Both of these heroes are perfect for this fight because not only can they give themselves Stealth but they can also heal themselves if needed. Not only that both heroes can inflict DOT damage for phase 1.

For a pet I would recommend Reanimated Rabbit, since for each piece of Food Gear equipped you get +1 SPD and that's very important since this boss is very fast and +1 HP for every 4 food in you inventory.

For Inn items you'll want to find yourself a copy of Songbook of Rousing Tunes as that'll give your party +2 SPD and 4 Stimulating Poultice as that gives +4 SPD to one hero hence why you need for of them.

For combat items you'll want to bring as many Smoke Bombs and Shimmering Powder as you can. Save the Smoke Bombs for the 2nd phase of the fight as Fault has really low debuff resistance. Use Shimmering Powder to remove Seen tokens from heroes who have no way to remove them themselves.

For a lair trophy I would go with the Harvest Child as the effects of the boss trophie will help you and hurt the boss.
