A suspected tire thief in Southfield was arrested after attempting to evade capture by swimming across a pond. Police were alerted by a 911 call about a theft in an apartment complex parking lot and subsequently pursued a rented Chrysler Pacifica minivan containing the suspects. During the chase, the suspects discarded a stolen tire and collided with a police cruiser, injuring two officers. The driver, Trachawn McCaa, and a passenger, Prince Madison, were apprehended and charged with larceny-related offenses. Both have prior felony records and are required to wear GPS tethers if they post bond.
