Stones River as witnessed by Private Sam Watkins in his book "Company Aytch". Sam Watkins was a private in the 1st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. He saw the war from beginning to end. Only a handful of men of the thousands that fought in the regiment were left to surrender. Sam saw things to the end. In the Summer of 2022, I followed in the footsteps of Sam Watkins, visiting Stones River, Spring Hill, Franklin and Nashville. My last stop was Sam's gravesite.
This is the first in the series of videos about this trip - the Battle of Stones River. It's all as seen by Private Sam Watkins.
