The most interesting kinds of robots are not the ones we might imagine taking charge in an AI apocalypse, or serving us a drink in a Westward themed amusement park. Rather, they are industrial robots - the kinds that might work in manufacturing facilities, logistics centers, or as part of heavy duty infrastructure platforms. One of the most sophisticated industrial robotics markets in the world is Japan, and to better understand the future of where things are going - I caught up with Marko Simic in Tokyo. Marko previously served as the Chief Technology Officer at Ascent Robotics, where he led the development of intelligent robotic solutions for factory and logistics automation. With a decade of experience crafting advanced machine learning and AI systems, he is now using his expertise to build up a new AI venture. He studied space systems engineering and robotics at Skoltech and MIT.
