We always get asked what's the difference between Chemi-pure Blue and Chemi-pure Elite so we decided to put together this video to show you the main differences of our two most popular all-in-one phosphate removal formulas. Chemi-pure Blue is the strongest version of Chemi-pure that we offer. It’s a new problem-solving formulation that utilizes phosphate adsorbrtion and binding resins which are far more efficient at removing phosphates compared to GFO. It also uses an extremely clean, low dust, extruded pelletized activated carbon we call QuickWash Carbon which has a greater surface area than our original granulated carbon, plus it includes an organic scavenger resin which removes organic waste and excess nutrients.

Chemi-pure Blue was designed to rapidly reduces phosphates and work in higher pH environments such as marine, reef, jellyfish, and even higher pH tropical freshwater aquariums like African cichlids, goldfish, and koi. It works great in heavily stocked aquariums and helps to quickly reduce nuisance algae issues in aquariums that are overdue on their regularly scheduled maintenance. This product is so efficient that some caution should be taken when using the media on low nutrient reef systems because the rapid reduction in phosphates can stress your corals. Chemi-pure Blue will fix nuisance algae issues and maintain heavy bio-loads, but if your system is well maintained and you are looking for an all-in-one phosphate maintenance media that will not rapidly reduces levels but rather help maintain your current levels for a longer period of time, we recommend using Chemi-pure Elite."

Chemi-pure Elite is the exact same formula as the original, which is a mixture of low-dust, extruded pelletized activated carbon, and ion exchange resins with the addition of Granulated Ferric Oxide, (GFO), being added into the mix for Phosphate control. The Elite formula can be used in all aquatic applications. This product is great for controlling phosphates over a long period of time. Chemi-pure Elite was formulated for aquariums with medium to low bio-loads. It is safe to use on all aquariums, fresh or salt, and will help keep your water crystal clear and contaminant free.

All of our formulas last 2-4 months depending on the bio-load of the aquarium. The best way to tell when your media should be replaced is testing your water for increased phosphates and nutrient levels, fluctuations in pH and a quick visual sign is water clarity, if you notice the aquarium water isn’t as clear as it was it means it’s time to switch out the Chemi-pure!
