Magpies are like the rest of corvids, they have well constructed social structure. It's a lot of fun watching them in the spring because by late April the chicks have grown into fledglings. But these mischievous young birds usually refuse to grow up and continue to demand feeding, giving their parents and sitters grief.
I happened to record an episode of a fledgling - just learning how to fly - and its sitter's interaction in our backyard and I thought it would be fun to share it on Youtube with other corvids lovers alike.
This video contains scenes of a magpie feeding on a dead rodent. Viewer's discretion is advised.
