Plants are major living organisms around which all living things, including humans, survive.
Plant diversity can be found in different parts of Bangladesh.

Plants are valuable resources for any country or region.
Plants with economic importance are referred to as Economic Plants.
Bangladesh has a significant number of economic plants.
The number of most common economic plant species is 320.
Rice and Wheat are the most important cash crops in Bangladesh.

Spices like Ginger, Turmeric, Onion, Garlic, Coriander, Black Cumin, Chili, Black Pepper, Fenugreek, Cinnamon, etc. are also economically useful.
These economic spice plants are significant in adding flavor and aroma to food.
Besides, sugar is being produced from Sugarcane juice and jaggery from Palm & Date juice.
Also, a large portion of these economic plants is used to build our houses and furniture.
Teak, Garjan, Sal, White Teak, Sundri, Lebbek Tree, Raintree, Civit, and Telshur are economic timber plants.
Due to solidity and durability, Sal timbers are being widely used in house poles, railway sleepers, door-window frames, and boats.

Some flowers are being used to make perfume.
Indian Snakeroot, Chebulic Myrobalan, Kumarica Vine, Aloe Vera, Liquorice, Indrajao, Green Chirayta, Neem, Pale Persicaria, and Vasaka are notable medicinal plants.
These plants are vital in modern medical treatment and cosmetics production.
These plants are fulfilling our daily demands and providing us with financial benefits as well as bringing in foreign currencies.
They also have environmental contributions.
Many plants are providing food and safe habitat for various species of wildlife.
But many plants are on the verge of extinction due to over-extraction, indiscriminate tree felling, and deforestation.
If this continues, our environment and economy will be damaged.
Also, the ecosystem will be disrupted and the existence of humans and wildlife will be threatened.
Therefore, we must sustain these plants by ensuring proper management, sustainable harvesting, and adequate tree plantation.
Then, the environment will be protected from calamities and the economy will prosper.
