If you are learning 7 major scale modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phyrgian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian) in jazz improvisation, you may find this exercise useful.
This exercise starts from C lydian mode, and each time we change one note to form a new scale. e.g.
C Lydian mode/scale: 1 2 3 #4 5 6 7 (C D E F# G A B)
C Ionian mode (or called major scale): 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (C D E F G A B)
C Mixolydian mode : 1 2 3 4 5 6 b7 (C D E F G A Bb)
C Dorian mode : 1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7 (C D Eb F G A Bb)
C Aeolian mode: 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7 (C D Eb F G Ab Bb)
C Phyrgian mode: 1 b2 b3 4 5 b6 b7 (C Db Eb F G Ab Bb)
C Lorican mode: 1 b2 b3 4 b5 b6 b7 (C Db Eb F Gb Ab Bb)
The trick is, if we flat the root (e.g. change C to B natural) and keep all other notes unchanged, it will for B Lydian mode
B Lydian mode: 1 2 3 #4 5 6 7 (B C# D# E# F# G# A#)
Once we hit B Lydian mode, then we could continue the same process as above, change one note a time to form the next scale until eventually we reached C Lydian mode an octave lower again and at that time, you have played all 84 (12 x 7) major scale modes.
