Welcome to Episode 34 of Scrabble History, a series where I break down some of the most incredible plays, epic rivalries, and amazing moments in Scrabble's rich competitive history.
If not for a certain bearded individual, the name "Richards" in Scrabble would surely be associated with Alastair Richards, elite Australian-born grandmaster and winner of the online World Scrabble Championship held during 2021 in place of the usual live event. One of Alastair's games from 2015 made Scrabble history with a rare combination of incredible timing and flawless word-finding, achieving a feat that is one of the rarest in the game.
