Veronica Merrell and Vanessa Merrell, aka The Merrell Twins Interview | VidCon 2024

LRM Online's Gig Patta chatted with The Merrell Twins, Veronica Merrell and Vanessa Merrell, at VidCon 2024.

Veronica and Vanessa are identical twins born on August 6, 1996 in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved to Los Angeles, California when they were 16 years old. Veronica and Vanessa are producers, actresses, musicians, singers, and songwriters. Vanessa plays the piano, bass guitar, and cello. Veronica plays the piano, guitar, and violin.

Veronica and Vanessa together are known as the Merrell Twins and have three YouTube channels as "Merrell Twins", "Merrell Twins Live", and "Roni & Nessa". They are also known for their work on the CW Network's "Jane the Virgin" (2014, 2015, 2016), MTV's "Faking It" (2015), "The Standoff" movie (2016), "Like A Boss" movie (2020), “Switched” movie (2020-Vanessa) several series and videos on Awesomeness TV's YouTube channel such as “Twin My Heart”, Seasons 1 & 2, and videos on Nickelodeon's YouTube channel.

Their main YouTube channel, Merrell Twins, has more than 5.6 million subscribers and more than 1 billion total views. They post videos showcasing their range in both comedy and music such as original comedy sketches, original scripted series, original songs and music videos, popular song parodies and covers, original funny songs, and challenges.​

Through their production company, True Image Productions, Inc., the Merrell Twins produced and released a completely self-funded, original scripted series called "Prom Knight". They filmed the series in early March 2020, prior to the COVID-19 stay at home orders. When they were developing the series, they had no idea that schools would be closed causing hundreds of high school seniors to miss out on their senior prom. As a result, they dedicated the series to all the high school seniors who missed out on their prom. The successful four-episode series amassed more than 8 million combined organic views after its release.

The Merrell Twins won a Shorty Award for YouNower of the Year in 2016 and received a second Shorty Award 2019 nomination for the category of Best YouTube Ensemble. They won two Streamy Awards for Best Live show in 2016 and for Lifestyle in 2018. They were nominated for a Teen Choice Award 2017 for Choice Female Web Star, nominated for two Teen Choice Awards 2018 for Choice YouTuber and Choice Female Web Star, and nominated for a Teen Choice Award 2019 for Choice YouTuber. The Merrell Twins were nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2020 in the category of "Favorite Female Social Star".
