I'd been wanting to do this one for a while, but knew that there would be a lot of effects shots needed. And I was right. It's probably the most work I've done for a single story so far (Timelash coming a close second, probably).
I knew I wanted to add some laser effects to those fabulous strobe guns, and something to suggest the anti-monster was a physical creature in the earlier attacks (rather then it looking like the victims are attacked by thin air), but I got lucky when I worked out I could 'key' the red sections and make them glow, giving the anti-creatures more of a sense of being made from pure energy and make Sorenson's red eyes shine.
The model effects only needed a little stabilising (as there are no stars to contend with!), and I added a new Zeta Minor, while trying to remain as faithful to the original as possible (ie. not at all like a jungle planet).
I also added a scanline effect to the probe's view, which I then had to add to some subsequent shots of the crew watching the screen, where the effects department obviously forgot to add the purple tint!
