The Asus ESC4000 G2 2U Server is fairly quiet at idle without any Intel Xeon Phi cards installed, but once you install even one of those coprocessors, the power draw even at idle is enough to ramp up the fans to a very loud level. At loud, it ramps up even more. Probably best to keep this server in the server room where it won't damage any ear drums!
