In this video, I explore what I think are some of the most inspirational examples of fitness. These are individuals who have embodied the true spirt of fitness, while performing at an incredibly high level, and inspiring millions.
While modern fitness “influencers” are impressive, there is far too much focus on building extreme muscle, or getting to very low levels of body fat. There is too much focus on aesthetics. And too much reliance on dangerous methods and shortcuts. This isn’t fitness, in my view.
Someone like Jack LaLanne, “Godfather of Fitness,” meanwhile, promoted TRUE fitness. This was accessible, inclusive fitness that encouraged people to get up and move. To use their bodies in any way they could - to feel better, look better, and live longer. But make no mistake: LaLanne was also an absolute specimen - once performing 1,000 push ups and 1,000 pull ups in one hour and 22 minutes!
Then there’s Magnus Scheving, AKA Spartacus, who has encouraged countless kids to stay active and healthy. And whose aerobics routines make him look like a REAL superhuman.
Or how about my own personal fitness hero: Jackie Chan. Jackie is not only an incredible martial artist, but also highly skilled in numerous other disciplines. He’s still filming action movies today, aged 70!
