Marcelo "coldzera" David, former star of Luminosity/SK Gaming and current player for Legacy, is the star of the 315th Episode of 'Reflections'. This episode is part one of two about coldzera's career.
coldzera is one of the very best players in the history of CS:GO, winning HLTV's player of the year award in both 2016 and 2017 - the former being his rookie season at the professional level! As the star of his most famous teams he won two majors, back-to-back, no less, in 2016 and 2017 featured the famous 'five titles in six events' run around the summer of that year.
Even outside of their best runs, coldzera's teams have many times featured in the play-offs of majors and tested the world's best sides. As the years went on, the team's results went down but coldzera remained a strong individual star with a famously well-rounded skillset, particularly notable for his lurking prowess and mastery of clutch round situations.
In 2019 he finally departed from the core he had won the majors with and went over to play with personal friend NiKo, also one of the game's stars, in FaZe Clan. Despite winning a BLAST tournament, a mixture of the shift to online only play in 2020 and NiKo's eventual departure meant coldzera's time in FaZe was far less successful than some had hoped.
After a brief spell in compLexity, coldzera moved back to the Brazilian scene, where he has played with 00Nation primarily and now Legacy.
In part one, coldzera discusses his rise through the Brazilian scene and early relationship with TACO, how the LG system was devised and how shot-calling responsibilities worked, overcoming Na'Vi and FNATIC, his philosophy on winning clutch rounds, why he practices so hard and why he didn't win a third major
This interview was recorded on the 24th of November, 2023.
