MOUNT NEMRUT - THE KING SEEKING ETERNALITY !

The colossal stone heads at the top of Mount Nemrut National Park, standing at 2150 meters high, are one of Turkey’s most famous sites.

The statues of Greek and Persian gods were thirty-three feet tall and formed part of the tomb and temple complex built by Antiochus I, who ruled the Commagene kingdom.

It is also the site of tumulus of Antioch, Eskikale , Yenikale, Karakus Tepe , and Cendere Bridge.

The Nemrut is a mountain of the Taurus Range, in Adiyaman. It is an historical site as well as being the 8th Wonder of the World. It is home to the most valuable monuments of Commagene, a kingdom that existed during the Classical period.

The mountain is only accessible during the summer months. It is covered by snow and ice the rest of the year.

The kings of the Kommagene dynasty ruled Adiyaman and its vicinity during the time period from 80 before christ to 72 anno domini.
