Here's what the lovely folks at Fishrider had to say.
Fishrider Records is proud to present a unique split single featuring, on one side Robert Scott (The Clean, The Bats) & Adalita Srsen (from Australian band Magic Dirt) and the song "That's What I Heard", and on the other side The Puddle's "Average Sensual Man".
Each song is an unreleased (and slightly out-of-character) gem from these two prolific Dunedin and Flying Nun Records legends. The inspired pairing of Robert Scott and Adalita Srsen happened at a songwriters workshop and produced this piece of gorgeous magic melody. These two most distinctive voices of alternative Australasian alt-rock work perfectly together and the rustic acoustic sound is classic Robert Scott pop with extra relish.
The Puddle recorded "Average Sensual Man" while they were rehearsing for their 2009 tour. The song was finished off by Al Starrett's accordian and viola and the guest vocalist Sharon Cunningham, adding a bit of smokey jazz to this one-off piece of Dunedin underground cabaret psych-pop.
The 7" single is the perfect way to experience new music and these two special songs are the perfect way for Fishrider Records to celebrate the start of it's vinyl release catalogue, along with the new Puddle LP "Playboys in the Bush".
