Welcome to our channel! In this video, we'll be diving into *Intergraph Smart 3D Piping**, a powerful tool for modeling distributed pipelines using a point-by-point design method. You'll learn how the **Piping task* allows you to create fully rendered three-dimensional models of various pipelines and insert piping components, instruments, and splits during the design process.
We'll explore the crucial role of **piping specifications**, which limit and often automatically select piping parts, streamlining the design process by considering applicability, cost, procurement, and safety. These specifications, defined in the piping reference data, help designers make informed decisions within specific design contexts or pipeline services.
Understanding the organization of pipelines is key. We'll cover:
*Piping Systems:* These organize pipelines within your model and can be created based on location, transported materials, designer, or any other chosen method. They serve as a way to group objects and can be created in the Systems and Specifications task or the Piping task.
*Pipelines:* These organize pipe runs and are also created in the Systems and Specifications task. When creating a pipeline, you define a *fluid requirement* and **fluid type**.
*Pipe Runs:* A pipe run is a connected sequence of pipe features with generally the same nominal piping diameter (NPD) and flow direction, governed by the same pipe specification.
*Pipe Features:* As you route a pipe run, you place features that define high-level design information. The software then automatically selects specific *pipe parts* based on the pipe specification. Basic features include straight sections, turns, branches, ends, run changes, splits, and along leg components. *Pipe parts* are the physical components like flanges and valves that constitute a feature.
We will also touch upon *permission groups* and how they facilitate collaboration among multiple users working on different parts of the same or connected pipe runs, especially in a Global Workshare Configuration. Understanding how permission groups are assigned to created and automatically generated objects is crucial for effective teamwork. We might even discuss scenarios like users working on the same run with exclusive access or on different but in-line connected runs.
Finally, we will briefly show you how to:
**Create piping systems**.
**Create pipeline systems**.
**Edit pipeline properties**.
**Disconnect pipelines**.
**Delete pipelines**.
Stay tuned to learn more about modeling pipelines efficiently using Intergraph Smart 3D Piping!
