Reef Retreat Experience! - The First Voyage-

Just one week ago I had the privilege of attending Reef Retreat held at the picturesque Roger Williams University in scenic Rhode Island. It all came together at the last minute I didn’t officially confirm my spot until the day after registration had closed and I ended up joining the show as the very last participant.

To be honest I wasn’t quite sure what to expect But when my good friends Randy from Reefs.com and Pratt Institute and Sanjay Joshi the Photon Man kept urging me to come saying it would capture the authentic spirit of MACNA’s early years I couldn’t say no. And I’m so glad I didn’t. 

Looking back on hindsight, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time.

Reef Retreat brought together the highest levels of reefing expertise in a setting where hobbyists industry leaders and academic trailblazers could connect in meaningful ways It was reefing elevated where the legends of our hobby met the scientists on the front lines of coral conservation and restoration. These are the people developing groundbreaking methods to protect and preserve our oceans' most delicate ecosystems.

What made this event truly special was the intimate format It created a unique opportunity for genuine conversations hands-on learning and direct access to experts we rarely get to meet let alone ask questions. The openness and willingness to share was something that left a profound impact on me and I am positive that I am not alone in this.
