Iran and Israel Missile Defense: Comparative Performance Analysis

In the recent month‑long missile exchange between Iran and Israel, the results were nothing short of astonishing.

On one side:

Arrow, designed by Israel and the U.S., one of the world’s most expensive missile defense systems.
David’s Sling and Iron Dome as complementary defenses.
Combined, they protect 22,000 km² of Israeli territory.

On the other side:

Bavar‑373, 15 Khordad, and Mersad — all home‑built Iranian systems.
These defend a massive 1,648,000 km² of Iranian territory.

Here’s what happened:

Out of ~200 Iranian missiles launched at Israel, only 15% were intercepted.
