The Reality of Heaven and Hell - Pastor Paul Silway Have you noticed some of the faces of people at a funeral? They wonder where are all the dead now? What actually happens after death? Is there really a literal Heaven and a literal hell? Some may even think that the person is still in the body waiting for some rituals to be completed so that he becomes free or comes out of his body. Some even think that the person who has died is still in the grave. No, he is not there. Rituals may be good for the physical body so that you can dispose the body in which the person lived with respect. But by doing this it does nothing to the person who occupied or lived in that body. You don’t learn all this in your school or colleges or because you are educated. The answer comes only from the bible which is God's word. The truth about heaven and hell is a powerful thing which can liberate you. John 8:31 "And you will know the truth and the truth shall make you free." It’s not enough just to know that heaven and hell exists. To be set free you must capture the reality of heaven and hell in your heart, then it will change the way you live. It will change what you say and how you say and it will change the way you think. I think many Christians have not really grasped the reality of heaven and hell otherwise they wouldn't act the way they do. You not only need a revelation of heaven but also about hell. You can’t know this truth from a scientist, news media or the government. There is only one source and that is the bible because before anything else existed in the world there was the Word. John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" Religion has also not helped many, for the religious people go to funerals and say "the Lord gives and the Lord takes it away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." That sounds very pious, but it's not biblical. It's empty religious talk designed to bring a sense of peace. But it's not true peace. It's the kind of peace the world gives (John 14:27). Hosea 4:6 says, "My people perish for a lack of knowledge" Now, He's not talking about the kind of knowledge you get in schools or college. It's a lack of Bible knowledge that will kill you. Even worse, neglecting the truth that can be found in God's Word may result in your spending eternity in hell. That's just what Satan has in mind. 2 Cor. 4:4 says, Satan who is the God of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them". The devil hinders or shuts the light to the truth of the gospel so that people die, without hope. He uses many weapons and one of them is human reasoning. You can’t understand the spiritual realities, by your natural mind. He also uses emotional religion to blind them.
