In this video, we take you through the full repair of a nice pair of Church’s Deuce shoes that arrived with worn-out, mucky crepe soles. As comfortable as crepe is when new, it quickly gathers dirt, turns sticky in heat, and starts looking tired.
Our customer chose to upgrade to comfy & stylish sand-colored Vibram 2060 sole. We removed the original crepe, added fresh leather midsoles from Tailby (a trusted supplier to many Northampton shoemakers), and finished them with a clean, bonded Vibram unit.
There’s a bit of friendly banter too—Paul demonstrates a quicker way to remove the soles by simply nicking the top stitching, leaving Antony with the long job of unpicking stitches the hard way. It’s all in good fun, and as they say: every day is a learning day!
