It costs absolutely nothing to say nice words, but unkind words can leave scars that last for decades.
In today's video, I am sharing a deeply personal story from more than 25 years ago. I fell in love with a beautiful red jamdani sari, but a senior relative made a cruel comment that "hurt like an arrow." She questioned how many years I could possibly keep wearing red, implying that as I aged, I would no longer look good in it. It was a form of age shaming wrapped in a "concerned" comment, and it stayed with me for years.
Today, I am wearing a dark red sari just like that one. I am sharing this experience to talk about the lasting impact of body shaming and negative remarks. Why do people feel the need to spread toxicity? If we cannot encourage someone, we should at least restrict ourselves from saying bitter words.
I believe beauty has no expiration date. I feel confident and beautiful in red today, regardless of what was said 25 years ago.
What do you think? Does this color suit me? Share your experiences with overcoming negative comments below.
