In Episode 9 of my street market trading series, I headed to Nutts Corner Sunday Market in Crumlin near Belfast — a venue billed as Ireland’s largest variety market and open every Sunday of the year:
With over 200 traders and thousands of visitors, I expected a thriving trading experience.
Instead, it turned into a nightmare. During the day I was robbed twice, and management told me new traders couldn’t sell certain stock because long-term traders have priority. To make matters worse, the pitch fee was nearly double what I pay elsewhere, and overall costs swallowed most of my earnings. After paying the rent and factoring in stolen stock, I cleared only around £320 — less than I make in a few hours at Drumbo on a Wednesday.
Join me as I recount exactly what happened, talk about how theft and restrictions affected my business, and compare the experience to other markets. If you’re a trader thinking about Nutts Corner, or if you’ve shopped there, I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips in the comments. Don’t forget to like, subscribe and hit the bell so you don’t miss the next episode!
