Heated Debates Mark Gram Sabhas in Nuvem, Sao Matias, Candolim

Gram Sabhas held across several village panchayats on Sunday saw intense discussions over local governance and civic concerns.

At Nuvem, tensions rose after residents objected to show-cause notices issued to alleged illegal houses. The Sarpanch clarified that the action was taken in compliance with directives from the High Court.

In Sao Matias, villagers raised complaints about the lack of basic facilities such as water and electricity, urging the Panchayat to address long-pending infrastructure issues.

Meanwhile, in Candolim, the Gram Sabha focused on matters related to village development and the ongoing concerns surrounding sewage treatment plants (STPs).
