Experience launch day at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis, where students completing the 40-week boatbuilding course finally put their handmade boats into the water for the first time. This film follows thethe launch and the celebrations that mark the end of months of intensive work in traditional and modern wooden boat construction.
Through a mix of classic techniques such as clinker and carvel planking, alongside modern strip-planked and cold-moulded methods, the BBA gives students the skills needed to enter the marine industry with confidence. Many graduates go on to work with yards such as Spirit Yachts, Will Stirling, Pendennis and Princess, or become ship’s carpenters around the world.
